For this project, I decided to comment on the beauty industry, idealized feminine culture, and vanity. I used four videos, two of the same gifs that I made to project onto a white and pink jewelry box. Jewelry, jewelry boxes, and mirrors are often perceived as symbols of vanity, so I used a jewelry box to convey that message. I wanted to demonstrate the distorted self-perception becomes when placing to much value on appearance and beauty, while simultaneously showing how the beauty industry teaches us to do so. This was the first time using projection mapping and really using something like film that has a significant duration, and that hopefully is not too evident in my project.
