For project 3, I replicated computer parts into wooden duplicates and installed them into a computer tower. I did this by taking photos of the computer parts, taking the image to Photoshop to create a black and white image, then to Illustrotor to rasterize the image and create a vector outline of the piece. Then I cut out the files out of wood using the laser cutter.

I then "hooked" the tower to a computer monitor (it was actually hooked to something else) that could turn on but could display "no signal" on the screen.

and lastly, to give a sense of potential in functionality, I installed hidden motors in the wooden fans.
I wanted to make a piece that was subtly humorous yet conveyed the serious dialogue of technology versus nature. I wanted to allude to how inherently they are different and also bring up the idea of futility; is nature futile in the context of our digital society. I unfortunately couldn't go as far as i wanted to in the project considering I was in the hospital for all of spring break, but life is life.
