For my second research blog I wanted to consider the upcoming project, integrating the digital and analog art worlds. I have always had a vested interest in augmenting something physical in a digital space, or vice versa. To me there is something interesting about the tension between the two, and each on it's own has its own properties outside of one another. My interest in collage has only perpetuated throughout my art career here at CU. I love the aesthetic of something that was intentionally taken apart and put together in a purposeful and artistic way. Looking into analog collage, it mainly consists of pop art, a 1950's artist movement which challenged at the time contemporary notions of fine art by using imagery from popular culture such as advertisements and cartoons, artists such as Andy Warhol come to mind. The historical components of pop art coincide greatly with this project, using pop culture and implementing it into a fine art environment completely changes the tension.
