I have had this fascination with projection mapping on top of paintings for a while now. I struck interest in this article that deals with three artists within different mediums that came together to make what they call "living murals". Felipe Pantone is a visual artist who came out of Spain who specifically is known for his murals that touch on the ideas of technology and futurism. Rebecca Smith is a multidisciplinary creative from the UK who currently is working on shorts as a duo Stylus. Stylus consists of Rebecca Smith and Peter Barber who creates murals off of graffiti. And the filmmaker for the "living murals" is Selina Miles who specializes in exploring the graffiti culture in Australia and around the world. This group of three artists were invited to Switi Rauw street art festival to combine their mediums and create these living murals. They created them by using Felipe's murals on the walls as the base, and then Rebecca putting light and projections to make them come alive, Selina documented the process. After this group project Rebecca went back to work on Stylus shorts with her partner. They created an amazing nature short called "Into the Woods" where Peter Barber painted on trees that were wrapped in plastic first, and then Rebecca worked her magic to create light and make them come alive afterwards. They have other shorts to that are attached below. Enjoy!
