I feel a bit of anxiety from this project because of my lack of experience in projection mapping and video jockeying. That’s why I’ll be also incorporating a couple of things in my project that I do have experience in—music and animation. For this project, I will be projection mapping animations with live music in the ATLAS Building main stairwell.
I will be having my partner and graduate of CU Boulder’s renown Thompson Jazz program, Trevor Jargon, to play a two-minute interpretive, improvised piece on his electric bass guitar and also possibly including his loop pedal.

(He’s shy, but dat talent tho!)
As for animation, I will be manipulating the stairwell graffiti art and site with projected animations that will present itself according to how the musical narrative will unfold during the performance.
A few issues I might run into is the blaring window that might affect the lighting for projections. To possibly solve this, I might temporary put fabric over the window and project animations on top of the fabric.
What I want to convey for this piece is the energy that music can create, and I want that energy to visually exude into the environment and the “audience” whether that be people or the eyes that represent the viewer. Hopefully, It will all work out; when it comes to materials, I will need VDMX and madmapper for the projection mapping, and midi controls on VDMX to control the animation effects. Music and setup will be up to both Trevor and I as this will be a collaborative performance.
